How we made a difference in 2017
Carlos Quintanilla Schmidt has been a partner at Guandique Segovia Quintanilla (GSQ) Law Firm since 1984. GSQ is part of the regional firm Latam-Lex with presence in Central America.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors at private companies and nonprofit organizations, including Scotiabank El Salvador, Business Foundation for Social Action (FUNDEMAS), Business Foundation for Educational Development (FEPADE) and the Salvadoran Foundation for Economical and Social Development (FUSADES).
From 1999 to 2004, Mr. Quintanilla served as Vice President of the Republic of El Salvador. During this period, he founded PROESA, the governmental agency responsible for promoting foreign investment in El Salvador, in which he served as President from 2000 to 2004.
Mr. Quintanilla is a lawyer and has a Masters degree in development banking from The American University in Washington D.C. In addition, he served as Vice Headmaster at Dr. Jose Matias Delgado University from 1992 to 2011, where he continues to teach mercantile law.
Mr. Quintanilla has been a member of the TELUS International El Salvador Community Board since 2012.
